How Giving Back Makes Us Stronger

For Each Neighborhood

The Support That’s Needed

Long known as one of the most generous corporations in the Baltimore area, we focus on organizations serving the immediate needs of the local community. Our service extends beyond corporate giving as our employees’ generosity of both time and spirit makes us proud each day. Our focus on giving back has not gone unrecognized: each year we are cited by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of the areas Most Philanthropic Companies. In 2013, we were also awarded the Business Philanthropy Award from the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

This generosity of spirit is Leroy Merritt’s greatest legacy to our company, and we are honored to carry on this tradition.

Women and Children First

With a focus on organizations that serve the immediate needs of disadvantaged women and children, we contribute both hands-on and financial support to dozens of local programs.

While we are proud of the philanthropic support we provide as a company, we are most proud of the charitable work that Merritt employees perform throughout the year. Our employees have donated hundreds of hours and gifts for the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, made repairs to the Bea Gaddy Family Center, collected clothing for Paul’s Place, built benches for Living Classrooms, walked to raise money for the American Cancer Society, and much more.

Promoting Health in Many Ways

Merritt Clubs’ charitable giving focuses on providing health programs, research and educational services that directly impact the lives of people in the local communities surrounding our clubs. We seek out services and programs that make an impact on these groups, rather than capital campaigns and operational grants. We partner with organizations like the American Cancer Society, The Brigance Brigade (ALS) and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raise funds through special events inside the club and surrounding communities with our members.
